What does ‘Prevent’ mean for the Voluntary and Community Sector?

Prevent is part of the Government’s Strategy to counter the threat from International Terrorism.  
There is a Prevent delivery plan for Gloucestershire in development and this meeting will include a briefing and discussion on Prevent and VCS involvement.  It is open to anyone from a voluntary and community organisation and may be of particular interest to groups involved in creating safer and stronger communities.   The meeting will be co-run by the VCS Assembly Team and Gloucestershire Constabulary.

This free partnership event for voluntary and community sector, criminal justice and other public services will explore the current and future drivers for partnership working and agree practical ways to improve outcomes.  Lunch provided.

The VCS Drug and Alcohol sub-group.
This new group will meet quarterly to discuss VCS issues relating to county drug and alcohol strategy and policy and inform VCS representatives on the Gloucestershire Drug and Alcohol Working Group (linked to the Gloucestershire Safer and Stronger Communities partnership) and the Substance Misuse Commissioning Board (linked to the Children and Young People’s Strategic Partnership).

The first meeting of this group will be on Monday 12th of April 2-4pm at GAVCA, 75-81 Eastgate Street, Gloucester, GL1 1PN
