VCS Health and Community Well-Being Strategy Group

The VCS Health and Community Well-Being Strategy Group is an email group of voluntary and community organisations (VCOs) with an interest or involvement in health and social care issues. The aim of the group is to give VCOs a chance to think about how we might be able to co-ordinate future work around health and social care, share relevant information (about training, funding, events) via email, and to come together for specific consultation events as and when needed.

VCS Mental Health Strategic Group Meeting
This well attended meeting took place on 5 August with the following agenda items discussed:

  • Draft Gloucestershire Suicide Prevention Strategy – Dr Sola Aruna, NHS Gloucestershire, gave an update on this strategy and then posed a series of questions to the meeting around Vision, Principals, Goals and Implementation.  The group said that the implementation plan is the most important part of the strategy and Dr Aruna agreed to bring this to the VCS for comments
  • Mental Health Commissioning Strategy (pre consultation) – Eddie O’Neil, NHS Gloucestershire, gave a presentation on the development plan for mental health commissioning in the county.  Linda Offord, National Development Team for Inclusion, then facilitated a question and responses around the mental health commissioning strategy.
