VCS Learning Consortium for Gloucestershire
The need for a Gloucestershire VCS Learning Consortium was identified by county voluntary and community sector (VCS) groups who are existing learning providing, groups who are interested in being providers and funders of learning. After several exploratory meetings with the Learning Curve (www.learningcurve.org.uk), the following model was agreed in October 2008
The aims of the Consortium is to:
1. improve the quality and extent of learning provision in Gloucestershire
2. increase the capacity of the VCS to deliver quality learning provision
This will be achieved through:
1. Co-ordinated information dissemination and sharing between and with voluntary and community organisations (VCOs) and other learning partners
2. Co-ordinated sharing and embedding of good practice from outside and inside the county
3. providing a means by which the VCS can come together and effectively bid collectively for county and regional funding
4. Effective mechanisms to receive and distribute county and regional funding on behalf of learning partnerships
The Consortium will be the local connection to VCS groups in Gloucestershire for regional providers and networks .
The Learning Curve will assist in the development of the Consortium and facilitate the delivery of objectives 3 and 4.by incorporating the Gloucestershire Learning Consortium into wider regional structures that it is seeking to develop with the LSC.
The consortium will be co-ordinated by GAVCA as the infrastructure organisation with the lead on training and learning in the county.
Members of the consortium will agree the most appropriate lead agency for each bid depending on the experience, capacity and skills required, on a case by case basis, and partnership agreements would be agreed between the lead agency and each member of the consortium participating in the bid.
