VCS ideas for public sector savings – your views
Lots of ideas for local public sector savings were generated by the VCS during an open meeting for the VCS on 22 July.  The suggestions were grouped under three headings: income generation, use of assets and tackling bureaucracy.

The ideas put forward during the meeting can be downloaded here (Word document).

These ideas will be presented by the VCS Assembly Board at its special meeting with Cllr Mark Hawthorne, leader of Gloucestershire County Council on Tuesday 10 August 2-3:30 at GAVCA.

The VCS Assembly Board met on 11 June 2010.  A main agenda item was the impact of the new Coalition Government’s Big Society agenda on the VCS and the future of VCS influence in Gloucestershire.

2010 EU Funding Opportunites under Fundamental Rights and Justice
The South West UK Brussels Office has released a briefing note which gives an overview of the funding opportunities available in 2010 under the DAPHNE III, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship (FRC) and Drug Prevention and Information (DIP) programmes. All these three programmes will launch their annual calls for proposals for action grants within the next few weeks.
