Compact Commissioning

Gloucestershire’s own guide to the commissioning process is now available.  The Good Commissioning Guide, produced as part of the Better VCS Commissioning Project overseen by the Gloucestershire Compact Group, enables a common understanding of the whole of the commissioning process. Please note that there is an addendum to the Guide.

The Guide is aimed at people from all sectors who are new to commissioning, or who want basic information about what happens at each stage of the commissioning cycle.  At each stage, it gives examples of good commissioning practice, and useful sources of further information about commissioning.  It also has a section about Commissioning for Outcomes, and throughout, highlights the role that the VCS can play in commissioning at a strategic and a local level.

Not everyone is going to get involved with all the stages of commissioning, and the Good Commissioning Guide will help you to decide if and when it is relevant for you. A shared understanding of commissioning will enable Commissioners to design the best processes for the specific commissioning task; and it will enable VCS providers to understand how to be involved with the commissioning cycle.
