The Gloucestershire VCS Assembly Team
The Gloucestershire VCS Assembly Team builds and supports voluntary and community sector (VCS) involvement in partnership working across Gloucestershire. At present the Team is focusing on developing the following three key areas:
The Gloucestershire VCS Assembly for the Voluntary and Community Sector
The Gloucestershire VCS Assembly was established in 2003 and works to provide the sector with a countywide strategic voice and promote networking between the diverse range of groups that make up the sector. The Assembly structure includes VCS Strategy Groups which provide groups with information and a chance to get together to discuss particular issues. Any voluntary or community group in the county is automatically considered to be a member of this Assembly and is welcome to participate in events and consultations, or to come along to a VCS Strategy Group meeting.
Voluntary and Community Sector Representation on Strategic Partnerships
Strategic planning and policy making is increasingly being done through multi- sector partnerships such as the Gloucestershire Conference and its various theme groups, and through Gloucestershire’s Local Area Agreement. The Project promotes voluntary and community sector involvement in these partnerships and aims to elect and support representatives to ensure that the sector has an effective and influential voice.
The Gloucestershire Compact
The Gloucestershire Compact forms an agreement between the public and voluntary and community sectors to support better partnership working across the county, and was launched in May 2004. The Project acts as the secretariat for the multi-sector Gloucestershire Compact Group which is responsible for overseeing the implementation of this Compact and its Codes of Good Practice.

The Gloucestershire VCS Assembly Team is managed by Gloucester Association for Voluntary and Community Action (GAVCA) but is accountable to the VCS Assembly for its strategic direction.
